knew how to make money was with real estate but the Drone industry has really exploded over the last 10 years with the advancement technology and consumer made drones especially by the ones made by DJI in fact according to Zan market research experts predict that this Market will experience significant growth reaching around 314 billion by 2032 so it’s definitely an exciting time to be a commercial drone pilot with that being said let’s get started so number one is weddings if you just Google drone wedding photos you’ll see all sorts of interesting and creative ways that drone Pilots are capturing stunning wedding photos it really is a great opportunity to get creative and create some special memories for the bride and groom so the trick here is to partner up with a wedding photographer or videographer who doesn’t already use drones unless you know someone I suggest going to Google and typing in wedding photographers near me number two is film making you can’t watch anything these days without noticing a drone shot or two an arrow shot is a great way to establish a location or to transfer a location from one place to another in the story line these can be used in movies TV shows commercials and feature films your Google prompt is going to be video production companies near me number three is agricultural surveying so I live in a rural part of North Carolina with farmland all around me and so drones can be used to carry a payload such as pesticides and fertilizers now you can’t do that with a small drone like the DJI mini3 you have to have a specialized drones are noisy right so if you’re trying to observe an animal uh without disturbing them by the sound of the Drone that means you need to get a drone that has an optical zoom lens this allows you to fly the Drone far far away from the animal and not disturb them but still be able to observe them from a distance 15 Telecom infrastructure inspection so think about cell towers right uh the Drone can be used to identify any problems or damage that needs to be fixed it’s way safer and more economical for someone to fly a drone around it than for someone to try to actually climb the top of it that just seems super dangerous right so so the Drone is then a safer and more economical way of inspecting these cell towers so number 16 is journalism if you’re trying to capture the latest breaking news throwing a small drone up in the air can be a great way to capture extra coverage and provide a unique perspective to the story being told by the reporter seek out local TV crews in your area and see if they have a need for a dedicated drone pilot if not one idea is to actually uh educate and train someone on their staff to fly the Drone then you can charge a consulting fee 17 is wind turbine inspection so last March I was traveling out west and the closer we got to California the more wind turbines we saw so think about how someone’s going to have to inspect those and maintain those right they’re going to have to physically climb up there similar to the cell tower drones are a great tool to conduct regular inspections of wind turbines to ensure they’re operating efficiently without having the need for someone to actually climb up there okay 18 is pipeline inspections a drone can be used to monitor pipelines for leaks corrosion and other issues providing detail reports to maintenance teams now number 19 is Bridge inspections use your drone to inspect bridges for structural Integrity reducing the need for manual inspections now I hope we’re starting to see a pattern here right anytime there’s a dangerous job where someone has to go up high or climb something High the Drone is an opportunity to make their job safer and easier number 20 insurance claims assessment the trick here is to partner with your local insurance companies to assess property damage for insurance claims quickly and accurately using your drone now this would be applicable right after a large storm a fire or flood or something like that number 21 Is Mining and query surveys with the Drone you can conduct detailed surveys of mining sites for exploration safety assessments and operational planning now it’s not that these companies aren’t already doing this but it requires someone to physically walk around the entire site on foot which is time consuming right but with a drone you can capture the same amount of data in 15 minutes that might take someone else hours to Canvas an entire work area and based on the job site a drone means that no one has to enter a potentially dangerous situation to collect the data 22 archaeological surveys a drone can help archaeologists map and document excavation sites with a detailed Arrow imagery from your drone number 23 is Land Development planning use your drone to provide aerial surveys and maps for land developers to assist them in the planning and development process your Google prompt is going to be land developers near me or shooting on the ground with my DSLR most of it comes from my Drone footage and I will say this if you shoot in 4k you actually make more money than shooting HD 26 event security drones can help enhance event security by monitoring large crowds and scan the perimeter from the air for any potential problems or threats number 27 hobbyist workshops so here’s a cool idea take all your drawn knowledge and expertise and start teaching drone flying and photography workshops for hobbyists and aspiring drone Pilots now years ago I used a website called meetup.com and I create a local drone rccl club and once a month we would get together and fly our drones and talk shop and you know just get together and hang out and it was a great time to meet other enthusiasts in the area now the Meetup was free but what you could do is actually open it up to beginners and charge a small fee and then offer to teach people how to fly their drone number 28 delivery services just this past week actually the FAA gave Amazon key permission that allow it to expand its drone delivery program which is pretty cool right like uh they’ve been talking about it for years even back when I first started flying drones I thought man that’s pretty cool to use your drone to deliver something and now um I know Amazon’s been doing a lot of testing but now the fa has finally given them uh the the the green finally giv them the Green Thumb finally giv them the green light so that’s pretty exciting so check the Amazon website they could be potentially hiring uh drone Pilots or people who are familiar with the Drone technology so number 29 is advertising for the automotive industry now I’m on the hunt for a new car so I’ve been looking at a lot of car ads lately and one thing I’ve noticed is they all include uh at least one drone shot and the cars usually out somewhere in the in the wide open spaces or you’re looking for a truck it’s out in the desert somewhere spitting dust and dirt everywhere but uh this could be a cool opportunity for you to use your drone uh to help promote these cars and like car commercials right so one idea would be to look up cardo ships in your area uh reach out to their marketing advertising team and just offer your services as a drone pilot and see what they say Okay number 30 use your drone to create promotional videos or virtual tours of tourist destinations hotels attractions offering potential visitors a unique perspective and marketing assets for your client now one of my most memorable and favorite jobs was getting hired to capture Drone footage at an oceanfront condo building in the Cayman Islands and it was an amazing opportunity they actually paid for my wife to come as well so we had like a fun little getaway in the weekend but basically I got my flight paid for and my lodging paid for and it was amazing and all I had to do is just take my drone and fly around and take pictures and it was one of the best jobs I ever had so look for opportunities to connect with travel or tourism boards number 31 golf courses I did a lot of this back when I lived near Myrtle Beach now if you don’t know Myrtle Beach has a ton of golf courses and so what I would do is reach out to them offer my services use a spreadsheet to keep track of who I contacted and offer my services to take photos and video of the golf course for promotional purposes but in addition to creating promotional advertising assets I think you can also use your drone to help them monitor the health of the turf and potentially uh look for any maintenance problems or issues on the golf course number 32 time-lapse and hyperlapse videos create time-lapses of construction projects events or national phenomena some of the newest drones like the DJI mini3 Pro they have a hyperlapse feature already built in and the camera does a processing for you and it’s good to note that these are also very popular on stock video websites oh number 33 fire fire fighting support use your drone to assist in firefighting efforts by providing aerial views of wildfires monitoring fire spread and identifying Hotspots for targeted intervention now to do this you might want to partner up with your local fire department and become an on call Asset now if you work a full-time job and can’t commit to that offer to train and teach someone who does work there and charge a consulting fee number 34 Forest management use your drone to monitor Forest Health Track deforestation and assist in reforestation efforts partner up with Park Rangers or the US fish and wildlife service number 35 educational content creation produce educational videos and content for schools universities and online platforms like YouTube and skillshare number 36 energy sector one of my earliest paying drone jobs was flying out to a large large field of solar panels in eastern North Carolina now the client who hired me was responsible for installing and maintaining the panels and so
